Louis J. Lukash, 86, of Riverdale, NJ who died peacefully on February 25, 2024.
Lou was born in Manhattan, to John and Theresa (nee Csencsits) on October 31, 1937. He went to high school at Manhattan Aviation High School. He worked at the Port Authority NY/NJ as a Tunnel Systems Controller and retired from there in 1993. He was a lifetime member of the New York Society of Model Engineers and loved model railroading and railfanning. He had a passion for taking and editing train and home videos. He also loved watching his favorite teams the New York Mets, Knicks, Giants and Jets.
For those of you that knew him well, you always knew that you would get the longest version of any story as he was full of knowledge in many areas.
Lou married Barbara (nee Ferdinand) in April 1964 and they moved to the suburbs in 1966 where they raised their 3 children.
Lou survived by his three children and their spouses, Linda Lukash, Donna Lynn Sifers and her husband, Gil and his son, Michael Lukash and his wife, Kerrie.
Grandchildren, Nicole and Thomas Benway who were is his pride and joy.
His sister, Louise McNeish, nephew, John and his wife Darlene and niece, Theresa. His sister-in -law, Joanne Lukash.
Lou was predeceased by his late wife, Barbara Lukash (2020), his parents Theresa (2005), John (1988) and his brother, Larry Lukash (2010)
Visitation will be held at Scanlan Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 28th from 4pm-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 29th at 11 am at Scanlan Funeral Home.
