William Henry Paynton Jr., of Lincoln Park NJ, formerly of Manasquan NJ, passed away February 23, 2024.
Raised in Bloomfield, N.J., he was the son of William Sr. and Eleanor Paynton. William attended Bloomfield High School before furthering his education at UPSALA College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Transportation. His career was dedicated to the trucking and transportation industry.
A proud veteran, William served in the Army Reserves for 27 years, serving overseas in Operation Desert Storm and achieving the esteemed rank of 1st Sergeant. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and his service was marked by honor and valor.
Beyond his professional and military endeavors, William was a man of diverse interests and passions. He was a skilled private pilot, a FreeMason, and a member of classic automobile clubs.
William also made his home in Manasquan for over 40 years. His favorite spot was the Manasquan Inlet, where he could often be found. He also volunteered at the beach at Sea Girt, diligently raking and cleaning the beach. He found enjoyment in preserving the beauty of his surroundings especially early in the morning while it was quiet and peaceful.
In addition to his beachside pursuits, William generously devoted his time to community service. He was a volunteer with the Manasquan Fire Department Hose Company #1 and the Sea Girt National Guard Militia Museum.
William Henry Paynton Jr. will be fondly remembered for his commitment to his family, friends, and community. He was a man that motivated himself to get moving and start his day on a good note. William found importance in being involved and in touch with his community. He leaves behind a legacy of service and passion that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
He is survived by his sons William Henry Paynton III (Lisa), and Donald Paynton (Lara). He is also survived by many extended family members. William was predeceased by his late wife Katherine Paynton (2023).
Services will be held privately by the family at a later date.
