Barbara M. Ketterer, of Wayne, passed away on February 23, 2024 in the loving care of her family.

Born and raised in Secaucus, Barbara was the one of three children born to Edward and Matilda Diekhaus. She married Ernest Ketterer in 1953 and the couple later settled in Wayne to raise their family. While her children were young, Barbara dedicated herself wholeheartedly to creating a warm and nurturing home environment. Her meticulous attention to detail ensured that every corner of their home was filled with love and care.

Once her children were grown, Barbara transitioned to the workforce, working as secretary for many years. Following her husband's passing in 1993, she found joy in vacationing with her family, playing bingo and painting. Sunday dinners were a treasured tradition, a time to come together and share a delicious meal and keep up to date on her grandchildren's latest adventures and achievements. Time spent with family was what Barbara treasured most.

Barbara is survived by her son, Ernest Ketterer and his wife Diana; her daughters, Ellen Holloway and Barbara Albrecht and her husband Christian; and her six grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest, and her sisters, Theresa and Regina.

Family and friends may visit from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday, February 27 at Scanlan's Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am on Wednesday at Our Lady of Magnificat RC Church, Kinnelon. Burial will follow at Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes.
