William Winston Oldford

November 30th, 1945-February 17th, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that the family of William “Bill” Oldford announce his unexpected passing.

Bill Oldford, age 78 years, of Sandringham, passed away on February 17, 2024, at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander NL, surrounded by family.

Bill was born on November 30th, 1945, to parents William and Sarah Oldford of Sandringham. Although a gifted carpenter, he worked as a taxi driver in Gander, where he met and married Katherine (Kay) Oldford.

Bill was predeceased by his parents Sarah and William Oldford, brothers Chirley Oldford (Eileen), Harvey Oldford (Daisy), Maurice Oldford, Lloyd Oldford, and sisters Isabelle Coates (Bill). Annie Squires (George).

Left to mourn are his wife Kay of 57 years, daughters Joanne Balsom (Mick), Trina Heffern (Gary), and son Jim Oldford (Stephanie). Grand-children Tracy Turner (Steven), Mallory Murphy (Ray), Allison Murphy (Chloe), Chelsey Oldford and Courtney Oldford. Great grand children Keira Sparkes and Kallie Sparkes.

Also left to mourn are his brothers Calvin Oldford (Elizabeth), Norm Oldford (Olive), sister Pansy Travers (Alfred), as well as a large circle of nieces / nephews, family and friends.

We would like to extend our thanks to the nurses and doctors at James Paton Memorial Hospital for the care they provided not only to Bill, but also for the comfort they offered to our family during this time.

Special thanks are also extended to Oram’s Funeral Home for their care and kind words.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will go forward at a later date.
