Harvard resident, Burnell M. Aspegren, 90, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard, Nebraska. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 10am at Harvard United Church of Christ with Pastor Dave Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Harvard Cemetery with Military Rites. Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the church with family present. Memorials are suggested to the Harvard United Church of Christ or Harvard Rest Haven. Burnell was born on August 22, 1927 at Saronville, NE to Melvin and Leona (Barker) Aspegren. He grew up in Saronville and graduated from Sutton High School in 1945. He worked at Bethphage Misson in Axtell where he met Barbara Hanson. He served in the United States Army from 1950-1952 and served in the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Barbara on July 5, 1953 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege. They farmed and made their home in the Harvard area their entire life. He was a member of Harvard United Church of Christ, serving on the church council for many years, the American Legion, the VFW, and the Harvard Rod and Gun Club. Burnell loved building things in the shop for the farm and the home and spending time with his family. Later in life he enjoyed traveling on bus tours with Barbara across the United States. Burnell is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Barbara, granddaughter; Chelsea Akset. Brothers; Arnold Aspegren, and Percy Aspegren, and sister; Joan Clevin. He is survived by his children David (Doris) Aspegren, Maryanne Halterman, and Sharon Aspegren, 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by brother Herbert (Dot) Aspegren, sisters-in-law Marilyn Aspegren and Marie Aspegren. Numerous nieces and nephews.
