Edward J. Trovitch, Sr. - July 30, 1931~ February 19, 2024


Edward J. Trovitch, Sr., 92, formerly of Hazle Township, died on Monday evening at Rosewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Schuylkill Haven.


Born in West Hazleton , he was the son of the late Alexander and Elizabeth (Branan) Trovitch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Barbara Kapuschinsky, who died in 2020; his brothers Peter, Anthony, and John; his sisters Katherine and Elizabeth; and his daughter-in-law Lori Trovitch.


He was a member of St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church, Hazleton, and was also a member of the Holy Name Society and Baking Crew of that parish. He was also a member of the San Alfonso Retreat House.


A veteran of United States Navy Service, he served aboard the USS Howard W. Gilmore and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.


Prior to his retirement, he was employed as press operator at Bemis Company, West Hazleton.


Surviving are his children Girard Trovitch and his wife Margaret, of Edwall, WA, Edward Trovitch Jr., of Hazle Township, David Trovitch and his wife Nancy, of Beaver Meadows, Stephen Trovitch, of Charlotte, NC, and Jeffrey Trovitch, of Hazle Township; his brother Paul Trovitch, of Florida; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held on Friday. The Office of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church, Hazleton, at 10:00 a.m. by Rev. Oleh Kuts. Private interment will be in the parish cemetery.


Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Pusti Funeral Home, Inc., 480 West Broad Street, Hazleton.
