Fern A. Reed

Fern A. Reed, age 96, of Milton, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Edgerton Care Center. She was born in Janesville on February 6, 1922, the daughter of Peter and Clara (Hamms) Tubbs. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1940. Fern married John Reed on July 26, 1947 at St. Marys Catholic Church, Milton, and he preceded her in death on June 6, 2001. She worked at Parker Pen before becoming a full time homemaker at the family farm. She was an active leader of Harmony 4H, a Superintendent in the Foods Department at Rock County 4H Fair, and member of the Harmony Homemaker Club. Fern also volunteered her time in the community with the American Heart Association, Milton School District, St. Marys Church Banquet Crew, St. Margarets Circle, and Milton Womens Club. She was an avid bowler, roller skater, card player, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Fern is survived by her 6 children: Tom Reed, Colleen (Jerry) Kuelz, Pete (Betty) Reed, Mary (John) Brown, Diane (Jim Conley) Reed all of Milton, and Lynn (John) Jones of Green Bay; 12 grandchildren, Amanda (Khary) Penebaker, Adam (Katie) Reed, Matt (Leigh) Kuelz, Dawn (Matthew) VandeVoort, Mark (Kasey) Reed, Ryan Heise, Mike Reed, Rachel (Wade) Janes, Aaron Reed, John Brown, Phil (Chelsea Coyle) Brown, and Neal (Betsy) Reed; 19 great grandchildren; sister in law, Eva Reed; and many other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter in law, Gayle Reed; brothers: Gordon (Mary) Tubbs, Harold (June) Tubbs, Jesse Tubbs, and Ben (Helen) Tubbs; sister in law, Alice (Jim) Youngwith; brother in law, Larry Reed; and great granddaughter, Ally Kuelz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, Milton, with Fr. David Timmerman officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Milton. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either St Mary's Catholic Church in Milton, WI, Edgerton Care Center, or Agrace HospiceCare.
