Benjamin Shull, 57, of Mt. Pleasant, died at 1:07 p.m. December 3, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City. He was born December 1, 1960 in Mt. Pleasant to Ellis Eugene and Patricia Lea Spurgeon Shull. He married Debbie Shepard and she preceded him in death. He married Neada Kay Johnson on October 5, 2004. He grew up in Ottumwa and attended Bloomfield High School. He worked in landscaping and several odd jobs. He was a diehard Chicago Cubs and Bulls fan, a Minnesota Vikings fan and liked to watch WWE wrestling with his Yorkie, Abbey. Surviving is his wife, Neada; step-children, Nicole Whitney Van Der Horst, Andrea Lynn Van Der Horst (Chris Randall) and Leandrew Brink; 4 step-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; siblings, Jeff (Lisa) Shull of Eldon, Mike (Cindy) Shull of Albia, Debra (Jim) Clark of Colona, IL, Brian (Echo) McDanel of Eddyville and Janet McDanel of Pella. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Lea McDanel, father, Ellis Shull and step-father, Wendell McDanel. His body has been cremated and no services are planned.
