Jacob Andrew Tartar, age 87, of Ozark, Missouri, formerly of Miller, Missouri, passed away at 10:28 a.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was born February 11, 1937, in Jasper County, Missouri, the son of Edward and Myrtie (Clopton) McKelvey,
Jacob was a 1955 graduate of Miller High School and attended Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was an aircraft mechanic for TWA Airlines.
On May 6, 1961, he married Barbara Lee Melton, in Eldon, Missouri. She preceded him in death on December 13, 2004.
Jacob is survived by two daughters, Angie Tartar and Jayelee Tartar and her husband, Shane; one brother, Ronnie Tartar and his wife, Mary; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jacob was preceded in death by his biological parents, Myrtie and Edward McKelvey; his adopted parents, Margaret and Rex Tartar; his wife, Barbara; daughter, Andrea Tartar; ten brothers and sisters, Joe McKelvey, Mary Lou Klenklen (McKelvey) and husband, Vern, Roxie Johnson (Tartar) and husband, Ronnie, Nixie Buffington, Guy LaVerne Tartar and wife, Grace, Wilbur Richardson, Carl Richardson, Paul Richardson and wife, Ruby Mae, James Richardson and Johnny McKelvey.
A funeral service, under the direction of Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home in Miller, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Miller. Burial will follow at Goss Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024, in the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to the ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) Association, in care of the funeral home, PO Box 108, Miller, Missouri 65707.
