Donald Lindee

Donald O. Lindee, 88, of Roanoke, formerly of Germantown Hills and Peoria, passed away at 8:44 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Donald was born in Glenwood, MN on January 23, 1919, son of Thom and Anna Lien Lindee. He married Hazel M. Ball on September 21, 1940 in Peoria and enjoyed over sixty-six years of marriage. She survives. He is also survived by his sons, Danny (Vicki) Lindee of Bellevue, Dale (Sherry) Lindee of Metamora and David (Ella) Lindee of Marquette Heights; daughter, Debbie Adkins of Roanoke; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. His parents, three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. Donald retired in 1978, after thirty-four years of service, as a Locomotive Engineer for the Peoria/Pekin Union Railroad. He was a US Navy World War II veteran and served aboard the USS Bennett Destroyer in the Pacific Fleet. Donald enjoyed dancing and ice-skating in his younger years and was a fan of Lawrence Welk. Donald was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at St. Ann Parish in Peoria, with Fr. Terry Cassidy officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to services at the church. Interment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria, with Military Honors provided by the U.S. Navy. Following interment, there will be a gathering for family and friends at the Eagles Club, located at 1704 S. East Lane in Peoria. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann Parish.
