After his honorable discharge, Herb worked another fifteen years, retiring in 1992, with the Peoria School of Medicine. He was a member of the Navy/Marine Club and a life member of the V.F.W., both in Peoria Heights. He was also the Chaplain at the VFW. He was also a member of the Bartonville American Legion and a Mason at the Blue Lodge. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears. Herb will be remembered as a good man and husband. He was friendly and always enjoyed talking to anyone.
