James Fry Obituary

James Fry, 71, of Avonmore passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on February 12, 2024. He was born November 18, 1952, and was the son of the late Frank and Naomi (Penvose) Fry. Jim was a graduate of East Allegheny High School. He retired from Brashear/ L-3 Communications, working as maintenance supervisor. He enjoyed cars, hunting, fishing, spending time with family, and being the best Pappy to his granddaughters. Jim was a strong and loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend. His knowledge and gentle spirit will live on through everyone he knew. The time he shared with his loved ones was genuine; he loved with his whole heart and soul. A quality that he instilled in his sons and granddaughters.


Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Diane Moon Fry, of Avonmore; two sons, Mathew James Fry of New Kensington and Michael David Fry of Vandergrift; two granddaughters, Priscilla and Penelope Fry; three brothers: Terry (Cindy) Penvose of Olanta, Rick Fry of New Kensington, and David (Eveann) Fry of Leechburg; a sister, Debra (Neal) Hartung of New Kensington; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.


In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, LeRoy and Irene Moon and his daughter-in-law, Chrystal Gamble Fry.


Family and Friends will be received on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm with a service at 8:00 pm at the Janette L. Gamble Funeral Home Inc. 2842 River Road Vandergrift, PA 15690. 724-567-7006. Online condolences may be made at gamblefh.com
