Olivia M Carlson Obituary

               Olivia Marie Carlson, age 102, devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, left her earthly body for her Heavenly home on Saturday, February 10, 2024.  She was born October 23, 1921, in Chinook, MT, the daughter of John and Eva (Becker) Schroeder.  She was a graduate of Floodwood High School, and went on to receive her teaching degree from UMD and later attended Grace Bible College.  She was united in marriage to David B. Carlson on June 19, 1954, in Floodwood, MN.

               Olivia worked as a teacher beginning in a one-room schoolhouse in Beaver Bay, MN, and later teaching in Mountain Lake, MN.  She was an active member of the Hibbing Alliance Church and served as a Sunday School Teacher to the age of 90.  She also led many Women’s Bible Studies.  Olivia enjoyed crocheting (and found much joy in giving away her creations), writing letters, baking, puzzle books, and reading.  Olivia poured the love of Jesus into all who were around her, and was a prayer-warrior.

               Olivia is survived by her daughters: Marlys (Dwight) Dague of Green Bay, WI, Charlotte (Stanley) Surridge of Lake Stevens, WA, Loretta Arts of Hibbing, MN, and Alice (Michael) Olds of Hibbing, MN; grandchildren: Charity (James) Hallmark of Idaho Falls, ID, Krista (Dave) Carlson of Palatine, IL, Holli (Mike) Litrenta of Green Bay, WI, Brad (Andrea) Arts of Anchorage, AK, Renee (John) Smith of Anchorage, AK, Dave (Cally) Arts of Willow, AK, Jessica (Andrew) Gallagher of Duluth, MN, Greg (Katherine) Olds of Chisholm, MN, and Kaci Olds (Nathanael Stephens) of Brooklyn Center, MN; great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Sedona, Elias, Micah, Gabriel, Philip, Oliver, Mya, Maxwell, Jacob, Yvonne, Levi, Emerson, Alyenna, Ezekiel, Olivia, Vivian, Noah, Amelia, Elijah, Jasper, and Madelynn.

               She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years: David; her parents: John and Eva Schroeder; and her siblings: Emma, Edward, Wanda, Lillian, Loyd, and Leroy.

               Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. Funeral Service Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Hibbing Alliance Church.  The Reverend Kevin L. Norton will officiate.  Interment will be at a later date in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
