Jerry C. Wall, age 88, of Greenville, passed away at 1:35 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2024.


Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Greenville First United

Methodist Church with Rev. Curtis Flake officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.


The family will receive friends at the Greenville First United Methodist Church from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2024. For those who desire, memorials in Jerry’s memory may be made to the First United Methodist Church or to the Greenville Airport at the service, or at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville.


Jerry Clarence Wall, the son of Clarence Homer Wall and Henrietta Josephine Jenner Wall, was born on Saturday, March 16, 1935, at his grandmother’s home in Pocahontas, IL. Jerry was raised on the farm south of Greenville. Jerry started school in a one room school south of Greenville. In 1952 his family purchased the farm north of Greenville. Jerry attended Mulberry Grove High School for two years then graduated from Greenville High School with the class of 1953. Jerry farmed with his father for several years, then graduated from Barber School in Decatur. Jerry purchased the Mumfer’s Barber Shop across from Dr. Max Frankel’s office. He purchased the building in 1964 from Paul Neeley and founded Jerry Wall Real Estate in Greenville.


Jerry was married to Bonnie Shoemaker and they had a daughter, Robin (Don) Allen, who lives in Norman, OK. He was married to Joyce Reynolds and they had two children, Marilyn Lohman Jones (deceased) and Michael (Patrizia Guerriero) Wall of Springfield, IL. Jerry and Sheryl "Sheri" Hudson Turley were married on May 22, 1983, at the First United Methodist Church in Greenville, IL by Rev. Elmer Fenton, and have enjoyed over 40 years together and Sheri survives. Jerry is also survived by grandchildren: Tara (Bo) Jett, Candice (Jason) Clark, David Wall, Lydia (Jim) Boyer, great grandchildren: Katie Mizell, Megan Mizell, Emma Clark, Maddie Clark, Caroline Clark, Ladly Boyer, stepchildren: Boyd Turley and Scott Turley. Step grandchildren: Kyle (Lindsey) Turley, Kayla Stillman, Audrey Turley, and Kate Turley, step great grandchildren: Everett Turley, Oliver Turley, Levi Turley, Jack Turley, Aiden Stillman, and Preston Stillman. Jerry is also survived by his brother-in-law Marlin Ronat.


Jerry is the last of his generation being preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters: Betty Wall Hood Harnetiaux, and Martha Wall Ronat.


Jerry's careers have been a farmer, a barber for 10 years, a well-known Bond County real estate broker for over 50 years. He served as a director at the Sandoval First National Bank for over 40 years, and served on the Greenville Airport Authority Board of Directors for many years.


Jerry's passions were flying airplanes and traveling. He piloted the plane to pull gliders and to drop parachute jumpers (skydiver driver) at four different airports. He was honored by receiving the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award in 2020. Jerry owned a top-down car for 60 years, with his red Miata being the last one. He and Sheri were charter members of the St. Louis Gateway Miata Club started in 1990. Jerry loved to travel, going on over 70 cruises and many other travel experiences. He was a life-long member of the Greenville First United Methodist Church.
