Lt. Stephen Anthony Asaro Obituary

Lt. Stephen Anthony Asaro, 59, of Middletown, NJ, passed away on February 10, 2024 from illnesses related to his service at the World Trade Center site on September 11, 2001. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and retired in Middletown NJ with his wife, Mary Ellen and their dog, Chloe. Stephen served as a Lieutenant for the New York City Fire Department. In addition to his service, he was also a master plumber who was loved by all of his customers.


Stephen was an avid fisherman and he loved spending time on his boat with his family and friends.  He enjoyed taking early morning walks by the water and hanging out with fellow fisherman.  Stephen had a great sense of humor and was always the voice of reason.  He always went out of his way to help others.  He was well loved by everyone that knew him and will be greatly missed.


Surviving are his wife of 7 years, Mary Ellen Asaro (Daalder); son, Christian Asaro and his wife Elisa; grandson, Anthony; brother, Vincent and his wife Marianne; sister, Diana McCormack and her husband William; sister-in-law Lorraine Connolly; brother-in-law and fishing buddy Chuck Daalder and his wife Mary and his many nieces, nephews and cousins who he enjoyed spending quality time with.

 

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents Vincent and Clara Asaro.

 

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown.

 

A Funeral Mass will be offered Friday, February 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Mary Mother of God Church, 19 Cherry Tree Farm Rd., New Monmouth.
