Gerald R. Kreiger Obituary

Gerald R. Kreiger, 88, of Indianapolis, passed away on February 9, 2024.  He was born on August 2, 1935 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Kennedy Frank Kreiger and Margaret W. Poehler Kreiger. He married Jane Ann Heidergott on January 19, 1957. She survives.


He graduated from Southport High School in 1953. Jerry worked for Southport Lumber Company, Shumaker Brothers and several trucking companies, retiring

from Consolidated Freight in 2000.


He was a former member of St. John’s UCC, Southport and enjoyed singing in the church choir. He was a current member of St. John Cumberland UCC. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed many card clubs, fishing and spending winters in Marco Island after retiring.


He was a member of Teamsters Local 135.


Survivors include his children, Ginny (Pat) Terveer, Decatur, Kenneth (Jo Biggers) Kreiger, Carmel and Laura (Tom) Weida, Fountaintown, his 9 grandchildren, Adrienne (Sebastian) Ranly and Taylor (Agi) Terveer, both of Decatur, Kelley (Nathan) Mullins, Bluffton, Carrie (Karmen) Terveer and Mitchell (Taylor) Kreiger, both of Indianapolis, Mandy (Eric) Lusk, Greensburg, Abby (Brandon) Karrer, Shepherdsville, KY, and Samantha and Kelly Marcus, Scottsdale, AZ and 16 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Kennedy and Margaret Kreiger and 2 brothers, Kenneth and Richard.


Visitation will be on Friday, February 16, 2024 from 11:00am -1:00pm at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN.  with the service immediately following at 1:00pm


There will be a private family service for entombment at Washington Park East Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John (Cumberland) UCC, 11910 E. Prospect St.  Indianapolis, IN 46239 and Franciscan Hospice House, 8414 Franciscan Lane, Indianapolis, IN 46237.
