Alana Larain Cappellari Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Alana Cappellari announces her passing. Alana died at home on Saturday, February 10th in the arms of her loving husband of over 20 years, Richard Cappellari. Alana was born and raised in Canton, Ohio and, though she resided in West Virginia the majority of her adult life, she remained in her heart a true Buckeye.

Along with her parents, Alana is preceded in death by her son, Brian Henderson, and her sister, Cheryl Jacobsen. Alana leaves behind her husband, Richard Cappellari of Beckley, WV; her three children; Daniel Henderson, Lori Bequette (Tony), and Stephen Murray (Jennifer); her stepson, Brandon Cappellari (Lauren); her 12 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sisters and brothers; and many nieces and nephews.

Alana was the second oldest of eleven siblings. Growing up surrounded by many sisters, brothers, cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents, she developed a love for family that was fierce and unapologetic. She often shared memories of her dad singing, the inevitable teasing and antics with her siblings, and countless games of euchre in which someone was always accused of cheating. She always found calm and comfort in the commotion of family events, reveling in each burst of laughter and retelling of stories from her youth.

Alana graduated from Timken High School, from where she had fond memories of playing the saxophone in the band and learning the craft of commercial art. Though she spent most of professional career in customer service positions, she had opportunities to display her talent in painting for small projects and her family.

Alana always felt her most important job, however, was that of a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. As a wife, she was devoted to providing tender care and amazing food as her and Richard tried to age gracefully together. As a mother and grandmother, she enjoyed nothing more than making a favorite meal or dessert, finding the perfect gift, or just hearing about what her grandkids were up to on any given day. She never tired of proudly doting on her family to whomever would listen. Even when she was apart from her children or grandchildren, they remained firmly in her loving heart.

Alana was an image of strength throughout her life and the family would like to thank Dr. Wassim Saikali , Dr. Kelly Pitsenbarger, and his assistant Trish for caring for Alana over the years. The family is grateful for the outpouring of support from family and friends and finds great comfort in knowing that Alana is now free of pain and happily reunited with her firstborn son and parents. The family also thanks the staff at Melton Mortuary.

Alana will lie in repose in the Melton Mortuary Chapel on Wednesday, February 14th from 6 to 8 pm where her family will be receiving friends. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 15th at 11:00 am in St. Francis de Sales Church. In lieu of sending flowers, the family invites donations to Saint Frances de Sales School at in Alana's honor.

"There are in the end three things that last: faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is love."

1 Corinthians 13:13
