Scott E. Gammon Obituary

Funeral Services & Interment were held privately for Scott E. Gammon, who died peacefully on Friday, February 9th at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, following a one-year battle with lung cancer, he was 57 years old.

Scott was born on December 16, 1966, in Lynn, Massachusetts. He was raised & educated in Saugus & Salem. He was an alumnus of Salem High School Class of 1984. Immediately following high school and at his mom’s direction, Scott began working in the mailroom of the Internal Revenue Service. Scott steadily climbed the ladder within the IRS and became a Systems Manager, his career spanned over 40 years. During this time, Scott met his best friend & life partner, Edward Buckley in April 1994. They also welcomed two daughters to complete their family. It was a very proud and profound time in his life. He cherished the role as father to both of his daughters, Cassandra & Victoria. Scott & Ed made their home in Malden, and together they raised their daughters. He was a very present and supportive Dad and their home was filled with love, guidance, and an abundance of happiness. Scott loved shopping for anything and was a “bargain hunter”. He also enjoyed traveling to many destinations, but especially loved Ogunquit, ME and walking the Marginal Way. Family was always most important to Scott, and he demonstrated it every day by his unwavering love, patience, and commitment to them. During his mother’s decline, Scott was an extraordinary caretaker, tending to her care and needs while she was on dialysis and awaiting a kidney transplant, unfortunately, she lost her battle with kidney disease, but she knew she had the best caretaker/son possible. Scott defined himself through his giving spirit, and his family will always be comforted by his love, fun loving ways & bright & warm smile.

He is the devoted best friend & husband of Edward A. Buckley of Malden. The loving & proud father of Cassandra P. Gammon & Victoria K. Gammon, both of Malden. The cherished son of the late Barbara G. (Hagerty) Gammon & the late James Gammon, Sr., and Best friend of Cheryl Bartkiewicz. He is survived by his stepmother Jane Gammon of Salem. Treasured brother of Maureen Haley & her husband Paul of Salem, Stephanie LaFrancios of Danvers, Matthew Carter & his wife Tammy of Billerica, & Gregory Carter of Beverly. He is the dear nephew of Beverly Ouano & his cousin Eddie Ouano. Also lovingly survived by his canine companion Otis, & his feline companion Chester and many nieces & nephews.

In lieu of flowers remembrances in Scott’s name may be made to The American Lung Association 1661 Worcester Rd. #301 Framingham, MA 01701.
