Joseph A. Igoe of Seawatch Trail, Webster, NY, teacher, labor-relations consultant and passionate golfer, passed away peacefully Friday, February 9th, 2024 at the age of 91 after a short illness. Joe was born on November 15th, 1932 in Lackawanna, NY , the second son of Gerard and Olive (DuFrane) Igoe. Affectionately known to his family and friends as "Buddy", Joe attended Canisius High School, Holy Cross College and Canisius College, graduating in 1954. From 1955 to 1958 Joe served in counterintelligence in the US Army stationed in El Paso, Texas.

In 1961 Joe married Theresa A. LaRocque and started a family in Clarence, NY. He taught geometry and Latin at Clarence High School and while raising his family earned his Doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of Buffalo. In 1967, the family moved to Loudonville, NY where Joe founded Thealan Associates, a labor -relations consulting firm that Joe would quarterback for forty years until his retirement in 2007 at age 75.

Beginning in his early teens, Joe began his life-long passion for golf when he caddied at Wanakah Country Club in Hamburg, NY. This passion manifested itself in countless hours passed and miles walked on the golf course with his wife Theresa, son David and numerous golf buddies. Shooting less than his age numerous times in his seventies and eighties, Joe was a member of the Wolfert's Roost Country Club in Menands, NY for 30+ years, Olde Hickory Country Club in Fort Myers, FL and most recently the Penfield Country Club in Penfield, NY. An ardent Buffalo sports fan, Joe's support for the Buffalo Bills never wavered.

Joe was a devout Catholic and with Theresa never missed mass. Most recently Joe was a communicant at Church of the Holy Spirit in Webster, NY.

Survivors include his wife Theresa, sons, Paul (Judith Gnys) of Lincoln, RI, David (Kimberly) of Penfield, NY, Patrick (Mary Gina) of Schenectady, NY, daughter, Diane (Gregory) Papas of Webster, NY, 9 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, his brother Kevin and sister Mary Ellen Godios. Joe was predeceased by his brothers, James, Francis and Dennis and his sister Ann Marie (Fitzer).

Joe's Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 24th 10am at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 1355 Hatch Rd. Webster, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be shared at Rochester Regional Health Hospice Care Fund (

To sum it up, Joe lived 91 years and had 1 wife, 4 children, 9 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, 6 siblings, 4 Bills' Super Bowl appearances and 7 holes in one - pretty good numbers!.
