Thelma Saathoff Eureka - Thelma Lou Saathoff, 80, of Eureka, IL passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, January 4, 2015, 12:37 P.M at the Eureka Apostolic Christian Home. She was born on February 28, 1934, at Fairbury, IL to Joseph and Alice (Sutter) Zehr. She married George Saathoff on June 17, 1956 at Fairbury, IL. He survives. Also surviving are two daughters Debbie (Bruce) Fischer of Roanoke, IL; Cheryl (Mark) Zimmerman of Congerville, IL; five grandchildren, Samuel (Erica) Fischer, Emma Fischer, Laurel (Benjamin) Wyss, Lanae (Kent) Wiegand and Andrew Zimmerman. Seven great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Arlene (Charles) Farley, Carol Virkler both of Fairbury, IL and one brother, Roger (Becky) Zehr of Peoria, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Richard Zehr, two grandsons, Steven Fischer and Nathan Fischer. Thelma graduated from Fairbury High School in 1952. She worked for Honegger Feed Company in Fairbury, IL until she and George moved to Saunemin, IL. In 1973 the family moved to Euerka, IL. As a homemaker she faithfully cared for her husband and daughters with devotion and love. Her love for the Lord was demonstrated by her meekness and loving heart. She found joy and delight in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; always ready to play and serve cookies. Thelma was a dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, loving wife and cherished friend who will be greatly missed. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Eureka, where services will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. Services will be conducted by the church ministers. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka from 4 - 7 pm, and from 9 - 9:45 am Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eureka Apostolic Christian Home.
