Monica Catherine Gelo, born Monica Catherine Lowenhaupt on February 20th, 1948 in Ozone Park, NY, peacefully passed away surrounded by the love of her family on February 11th 2024 at the age of 75 in Malverne, New York. Monica lived a life that was characterized by compassion & profound dedication to her loved ones. She was a loving, caring, and empathetic woman with a deep hearted soul. As the Matriarch, Monica always prioritized the needs of her loving husband Charles & her children Adriana, Bernadette, Germain & Robert. Her selflessness to her family & friends was at the root of whatever she did & would manifest itself in going above and beyond for people. Her absence will be felt deeply by all who had the pleasure of knowing her, as she was a beacon of kindness in her family, friends & community.  

Monica is survived by her beloved husband Charles Gelo, and her children: Bernadette, Germain, Adriana, & Robert. She was a cherished grandmother to her grandchildren, Robert Michael, Madeline, Mary, Finn, Brennan, Benjamin, Ryan, RJ & Daniela. Monica now joins her parents Dolores & George Lowenhaupt, and her sister Francine Moore.

Monica's life will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Malverne, NY on February 14th at 10am. Friends & Family are invited to attend the service to honor and remember Monica's life.
