It is with overwhelming grief and broken hearts that we share our beloved Kim Marie Rocha, age 62, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 2, 2024 after battling a long illness at Baystate Medical Center with family by her side.

Kim was born March 13, 1961 in New Bedford, MA. She was the daughter of the late Charles Rocha and Carrie (Henderson) Buckner. Kim was a 1979 graduate of Holyoke High School, and a 1981 graduate of Holyoke Community College. Kim worked in banking for many years and the Massachusetts Turnpike for over twenty years until she retired. Kim was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where she enjoyed inspiring messages and fellowship with congregants.

Kim loved family, always looking forward to family reunions and meeting different family members. Kim had a great fondness for watching westerns on TV. Her favorite westerns being Big Valley, Tombstone and Yellowstone. Although very quiet about it, Kim had an interest in politics, always listening to debates on TV or reading about it on social media. Her favorite TV show was The View, as she loved listening to what the panel of ladies had to say about the topics of the day. But most of all, she adored and loved spending time with her daughter, Shayla.

Kim was predeceased by a brother, Michael A. Rocha. Kim is survived by sisters, Belinda A. Rocha of Springfield, Michelle L. Rocha of New Bedford, MA, Maureen A. (Rocha) Barboza and husband Tony Barboza of Wilmington, NC, brother, Tyrone V. Buckner of Holyoke, and beloved daughter, Shayla Scruggs of Holyoke. All who met Kim speak of her altruistic behavior, generosity, big heart, and endless love for her daughter. Kim will also be greatly missed by several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Kim encouraged people to be their own self-advocate when it comes to their health, your body, your life, you own it.

Private services will be held for Kim at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home in Holyoke.
