Obituary Nancy Clark Dodson

March 25, 1933 - February 5, 2024

Nancy Clark Dodson, 90, passed away this February after a brief illness. She was a beloved sister, aunt, and dear friend to many. She worked as a librarian at Pioneer Investments for over 30 years, and loved the written word. She was a poet and a lifelong learner who enjoyed her wide collection of poetry books as well as frequenting both the Cambridge Public Library and the Boston Athenaeum.

A Cambridge resident most of her life, Nancy loved her city, especially the incredible opportunities to learn and grow available here. She was a thoughtful Christian who used that faith to inform her service to others, regularly giving to causes to help the disadvantaged and distressed. She was the kindest woman any of her family or friends could imagine.

She leaves behind her brother, Paul E. Dodson of Falmouth, Maine, her nieces, Polly Hutchsion, Lydia Thomas, Halcyon Westall, all of Rhode Island, and their families. Nancy made fast and lasting friendships through all her schooling and through her poetry circles. All who knew her appreciated her love of animals, sharp memory, and loyalty. She maintained friendships from 6 years old and throughout her life, right on to just months before she died. Her motto was, “Everything’s getting better and better”.

We are incredibly grateful to the team at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, who not only made her end of life as joyful and pain free as possible, but cared for her as a person.

All who knew Nancy are welcome to join in celebrating her life for a memorial Eucharist service at Story Chapel, Mount Auburn Cemetery on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
