Robert Scott Bob Smith, 90, husband of Margaret (Guyer) Smith of 238 Tinkling Spring Road passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at his residence. Mr. Smith was born on September 4, 1925 in Rockingham County, a son of the late Delphia Susan (Snyder) and Joseph Tyree Smith. Mr. Smith was a faithful and dedicated member of Mountain View Church of Christ. He was a man of few words, very kind hearted and loving to everyone. He served in the United Stated Navy from 1942-1946. Serving his country proud. He was a truck driver for many years and retired from Western State Hospital with the Security Department after twenty one years of loyal service. In his younger years, Mr. Smith enjoyed the beach, NASCAR, watching boxing and baseball. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by three brothers, Stanley Smith, George Smith and Arvin Smith and a sister, Avoline S. Poff. He leaves behind his loving wife, Margaret of sixty-one years; a son, Robert W. Bobby Smith and his wife Terri of Fishersville; two grandchildren, Brian Bosserman and his wife Jennifer of Staunton and Matt Bosserman and his wife Heather of Fishersville; five great-grandchildren, Elina, Katelyn, Irelyn, Corey and Everly; three brothers, Boyd F. Smith, Charles E. Smith and Dolan M. Smith; two sisters, Wilma S. Reed and Thelma S. Sanchez; two special sisters-in-law, Mae Frank and Patsy Halterman; a dear friend, David Snider; his special pet, Kitty Baby and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2015 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory. A Celebration of life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Steven D. Cline. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Matthew Bosserman, Brian Bosserman, Linus Cash, Dale Rankin, Lenny Rankin, Danny Smith and Joe Mader. It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions Augusta Health Foundation, Hospice of the Shenandoah, Post Office Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939 or the Mountain View Church of Christ, 538 Galena Road, Staunton, VA 24401. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the entire Hospice Staff. A special thanks to his nurse, Laura Summey and caregiver, Susan Williams for their professional care and love during this time.
