Lorraine A. Washington

Lorraine Annette Washington, Sunrise July 24, 1934 Sunset January 14, 2017 Almighty God in His infinite wisdom, mercy and grace gently closed the eyes of our beloved Lorraine Annette Washington, as she entered into eternal rest on January 14, 2017. Born on July 24, 1934 in Newport News, VA, granddaughter of the late Reverend Silas E. Corsey, founder of the Old/New Grafton Church, she was the eleventh child of the late Louis Edward and Cora Lee Washington (nee Corsey). She was educated in the Newport News Public School System. Having accepted the Lord at an early age, she worked diligently in the B.Y.P.U. (Baptist Young Peoples Union). She moved to Long Island, NY where she worked for several years at the Patterson Nursing Home, sending money home to help the family. In 1966, she moved to Philadelphia, PA where she spent her remaining years. In those years in Philadelphia, she worked at the old Saunders House. In 1970, God blessed her with a daughter, Tammi, whom she loved dearly. Lorraine also met and married Thomas Beville. Over the years, Lorraine fellowshipped in several local churches "Miracle Temple" under Reverend Shambach, "Grace Lutheran" under Pastor Hagadorn, "New Foundation Church of God's Christ" under Elder Eugene Craig, and lastly "Calvary Temple" under Rev. George Valco. Lorraine Annette will always be remembered as a bold, outspoken, spiritual individual who made friends everywhere she went and was available to anyone who needed her help or assistance. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Tammi N. Washington-Hall, son-in-law Theodore E. Hall, Sr., her sisters June O. Onley of Hampton, VA, Margy Leonard of Newport News, VA, her sister-in-law Lucille Martin of Philadelphia, PA, her long time friends Janet Hill of Roosevelt, NY and Alice Blessingame of Hempstead, NY, and a host of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews in the Hampton-Newport News area, as well as many friends. Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Thursday, January 26, 2017 9:00-10:00 AM The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike (cor. Lynn Blvd.), Upper Darby, PA and to her Funeral Service at 10:00 AM. Interment private. "Miss Me, But Let Me Go" When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom-filled room, why cry for a soul set free. Miss me a little, but not too long, and with your heads bowed low, Remember the love that we once shared, miss me, but let me go. For this journey we all must take and each must go alone, it's all A part of the Master's plan, a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart, go to friends we know and Bring your sorrow in doing good deeds, "Miss Me, But Let Me Go"
