Mildred Louise "Micki" Brown

(Age 82) Mildred Louise Micki Brown went home to be with the Lord on January 14th, 2017 in Spokane, WA. Micki was born in Arkansas on December 9, 1934, the eldest of four children born to Elnora and James Stocks. Most of her childhood was spent in the Portland, OR area and she moved to Northern California as a teenager. As a young woman in the San Francisco Bay area, Micki was an active youth member at Oakland Revival Tabernacle; it was there she would meet the love of her life, the late James Delmer Brown. Micki and Delmer were married on July 25, 1959; they were married for 46 years and had four children. Both Micki and Delmer were devoted parents and when the time came, were especially loving grandparents. For many years, Micki took pride in her work as an Administrative Assistant to an advertising executive, only choosing to retire early in order to spend more time with her grandchildren. Truly, her grandchildren were her greatest joy. She enjoyed any time spent with them whether it be reading, playing board games, working on puzzles Nanas house offered total freedom to let creative imaginations run wild, with no regard for the mess those imaginations would inevitably create. Micki took great joy in her ability to support organizations working to care for the less fortunate, especially children. She sponsored several children through both Compassion International and World Vision, and supported programs through Second Harvest to provide lunches to children at Sheridan Elementary here in Spokane. She was always the first to offer help to anyone down on their luck. She was deeply loving and enriched every life she touched. Mickis faith in the Lord was unwavering; she loved to read her Bible, to pray for and with others, and was always eager to share His love with anyone she met. Micki is survived by her brother, Bob; her children, Jeffrey, Karen, Phillip, and Stephanie; her grandchildren; and many other friends and family. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 20th at 1:00 in the afternoon at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Buddy Draper will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be given to any of the organizations Micki so loved to support before her passing.
