George Lee Lambert Obituary

George Lee Lambert went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at 6:50 pm, on Monday, January 1, 2024.


He was born September 5, 1936 in Springfield to George and Juanita Lambert. His wife Judy preceded him in death November 19, 2015; also preceding him were a granddaughter, Sarah on May 10, 2015 and a grandson, Jordan on January 6, 2018.


He is survived by two sons, George (Lisa) Lambert of Orange, CA and Craig (Lori) Lambert of Colorado Springs, CO; two daughters, Michelle (Mark) Sullivan and Vicki Korte, both of Springfield, IL; eleven grandchildren, Cristofer, Sebastian, Lauren, Michael, Noah, John, Paiton, Rosalee, Victoria, Alex and Jillian; six grandchildren, Lila, Charlie, Cora, Gia Marie, Nicholas and Timothy; two brothers, Jerry and Dwight (Patsy) Lambert and one sister, Tanis (Rick) Rakowski all of Springfield, and special friend, Sheila Little.


George was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He served as a member of the Channel Choir, A Stephen Leader, Chairman of the Finance Committee, Facilitator of Bible Classes and was a member of Contribution Management and Grounds Maintenance committees.


After working for Horace Mann Educators for thirty-seven years, he retired as Vice President of the Property and Casualty Claim Department.


He enjoyed coaching youth baseball and was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed singing Barbershop Harmony Music and was a member of several quartets and choruses. The latest with the Ambassadors of Harmony Chorus of St. Charles, MO, during which time they won the International Championship in 2004 and 2007.


He enjoyed his interaction with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and siblings.


The family will host a memorial gathering from 10 – 11 am with a memorial service beginning at 11 am, Saturday, January 6, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
