Muriel was the first of seven children born to Daniel and Francis (Topinka) McCaw. She was born at her aunt’s farmhouse on the banks of the Parkin district on July 31, 1920.
Muriel married the love of her life, Alex Szell, on November 15, 1945. For 32 years, they made a living farming north of Langbank, SK, then retired to a brand new house in Whitewood, SK. They were each others’ soul mates for 68 years. After Alex’s passing, Muriel stayed in this home until it got too much for her. She moved to the Broadview Care Home in 2019. That same year, she was able to move back to Whitewood, in the Whitewood Community Health Centre, where her journey in life would eventually end.
Muriel is survived by seven nieces and nephews, 22 grand-nieces and -nephews, 18 great-grand-nieces and -nephews, as well as numerous cousins.
Nurn was blessed with many gifts in life. Her kindness and generosity of her heart and her time will not be forgotten by those who loved her.
