Ruth H. Lyons Obituary

Ruth Helen Lyons, Jr., 54, of Hazleton, passed away on Tuesday at the Jewel Health and Rehab Center, Allentown.


Born in Hazleton, she was the beloved daughter of the late Ruth Helen (Barnhart) Lyons, Sr. and Joseph Lyons, of Weyers Cave, VA.


In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Henry and Anna Barnhart, and her paternal grandparents Paul and Mary Lyons; her niece Angeline Francisci; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.


Ruth graduated from the former Hazleton High School and continued her education in the human resources field. Prior to her illness, she dedicated her time most recently at the former Weatherwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as a human resources manager.


Her love of community kept her busy in her youth in working as a volunteer EMT and recently as a Hazleton Chamber of Commerce ambassador. She also worked previously at Boscov's Department Store, Hazleton.


She was a devoted sister and loved her great niece and great nephews with all her heart. She also loved her two Goldens, Spirit and Savannah.


Surviving, in addition to her father, are her sisters Theresa (Lyons) Francisci and her husband Louis, Laurie (Lyons) Gregory and her fiancé Dave Rock; her brother Joseph Lyons; her niece Tiffany Werth and her husband Jesse; her great niece Summer Weikel; her great nephews James and Dean Werth; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.


A graveside memorial service and inurnment will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Gabriel Roman Catholic Cemetery, Hazleton. Services will be officiated by Rev. Anthony J. Generose.


Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Pusti Funeral Home, Inc., 480 West Broad Street, Hazleton.
