Vera Anne Payne Obituary

Vera Payne, age 56 of Muskogee was born on August 1st, 1957 to Donald and Deloris (Ault) Martin in San Antonio, Texas and she died on Sunday, July 13th, 2014 at the Muskogee Eastar Health Care Hospital after a lengthy illness. After graduating high school, Vera worked as a sales person in computer electronics. She moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma in 1999 from New York and has been a member of the community for the past 15 years. Vera was Church of Christ by faith and attended Chandler Road Church of Christ before her health began to fail. For the past three to four years Vera had become homebound and was unable to attend church or continue with some of her hobbies that brought her hours of pleasure. Prior to her illness, Vera loved having the opportunity to travel, going to the lake and fishing when she had the opportunity. She was an avid reader and that gave her comfort as well as an escape from the day to day battle with her longtime sickness. Even though her health declined, she still loved to visit with her friends, create mosaics, sew, make handmade gifts for the family and work on all kinds of arts and crafts. Most of all, Vera loved cooking for the family and just sitting around enjoying a great conversation and a good cup of coffee with friends. Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Deloris Martin. She is survived by her life companion, Donald Cole of the home. Two sons, Daniel Armstrong of Reno, Nevada, Christopher Payne and wife Kristina of White, Georgia. One daughter, Rebeckah Payne of Muskogee, Oklahoma. Two brothers, Terrill Martin and wife Gayle of Henryetta, Oklahoma, Keith Martin and companion Lisa Darger of Arlington, Texas. Two sisters, Sheryl Martin of San Jose, California and Carole Martin of Dayton, Nevada. Two grandchildren, Emily Grace Hufhines and Caden Jacob Payne. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. For more information please call Shipman''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s Muskogee Cremation & Funeral Service (918) 683-1700
