Helen Ashurst Obituary

Helen was the daughter of Rosa Lee and John E. Brumett, born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on October 17, 1920. She passed this life on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Wagoner Community Hospital, at the age of 93. Helen married James Melvin Ashurst and he preceded her in death in January of 2007. She was also preceded by her daughter Helen "Jean" Day in 2001. Helen moved from Tulsa to the Wagoner area in 1974. She enjoyed getting out and RV traveling with her husband Melvin. Helen worked as a bookkeeper with various companies. She also was a former Prestolite employee. Helen loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and her dog Missy. Helen was a resident of the Yorkshire Village, where she enjoyed her friends and all the activities. She was known as a strong spirited woman that generally got her way. She is survived by her daughters, Muriel Morrell and her husband Al of Wagoner, Darlene Bankston and her husband Dale of Tiawah, OK, Lorie Gilliland and Diana Driscoll both of Tulsa, OK; four grandchildren Kathy Emery and her husband Bill of Wagoner, Leslie Richmond and her partner Phil Stromberg of Longwood, Florida, Danette Turner and her husband Rick and Danise Conrad and her husband Clay all of Tulsa, OK, six great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews other family members and friends.
