Judy Kostelich, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on December 9, 2023, at St. Clair Hospital with her son and daughter at her side. She struggled for many years with chronic health issues, and her tired soul went to be with the Lord.
Judy married George Kostelich, the love of her life, on June 6, 1959. They were blessed with a son, George, Jr. (Amy) Kostelich and a daughter, Diana (Geoff) Graves.
After the death of her husband in 1976, Judy was left to support and raise her two young children. She obtained her GED in July 1977 and continued, while also working full-time, to obtain a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She went on to work at Woodville and Mayview State Hospitals. After a work-related injury, Judy retired as a Registered Nursing Supervisor from Mayview in 2000.
Judy was an avid reader, enjoyed binge watching on Netflix and shopping on QVC, but mostly loved spending time with her family. Her love and generosity poured over to her grandchildren, Kristen (Martin) Perry, Kelly (Jared) Scott, Tyler (Maryn) Graves, and Nicholas (Loni) Graves. She was also blessed with eight beautiful great-grandchildren, Michael, Ella, Joey, Ryan, Jacob, Charlotte, Cooper and Colbie.
Judy is predeceased by her parents, Hazel & Tom Jackson, sisters Doris Whaley, Barbara Kiser, Carol Cloak and Libby Appell and brother, Jim Jackson. Surviving are Judy’s brothers, Tom Jackson, Kenney (Elke) Jackson and David (Marilyn) Jackson and her sisters, Janice Adamson and Marcia Coulter and many nieces and nephews.
Judy did not want a funeral, nor did she want her friends and family to mourn her passing. In Judy form, her wish was to have her friends and family gather with a party. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at the Meadowbrook Clubhouse, 1082 Meadowbrook Drive, Canonsburg, PA 15317. A memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m., followed by food, beverages, and music. All are welcome! Please bring your stories and memories of Judy to share!!!
