John E. Benningfield of Wagoner, Oklahoma, age 81, passed from this life surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was born the son of John and Maxine (Shobe) Broden on February 16, 1933 in Enid, OK. He was later adopted by his step father Bruce Benningfield. John was a graduate of Medford High School. After graduation he served in the U. S. Army from August of 1953 until May of 1955. He was stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. He received his Barber license and worked over ten years in the Nowata community. John married Sandra K. (Nye) on November 25, 1967 in Nowata and they have shared forty six years together. John worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a dispatcher and clerk, until he retired in 1995. John enjoyed fishing and especially spending time playing with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his loving wife Sandra of the home, one son John E. Benningfield, Jr. and his wife Cheris of Medford, OK, four daughters; Kim Watkins and Mark Jones of Wagoner, Lynna Jo Burns of Bartlesville, Lori Hosley and Jim Morrow of Wagoner, and Vikki Mrosek and her husband Tom of Oklahoma City; and two sisters, Johnette Martin and her husband Joe of Overland Park, KS and Cindy Broden of Caldwell, KS; fourteen grandchildren Brandi Langford, Keri, John Reed, and Joey Benningfield, Monica Greer, Chelsea, Ben, and Eli Jones, Jeremiah and Jacob Burns, Konnar and Sarah Hosley, Brittni Markum, Tres Mrosek; ten great-grandchildren Natalee, Kelton, Kingston, Waylon, Linlee, Hunter. Kenzie, Ayden, Carter, Paisleigh; nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Monday June 30, 2014 4pm to 6pm
