CHARLENE SIMMONS On June 17th, 2014 Charlene Simmons a longtime resident of the Long Bay area of Wagoner County, passed away from complications of a long term illness, she was 62 years old. Charlene was born in Lexington, Kentucky on September 28th, 1951. She spent most of her life growing up in Indianapolis, Indiana and graduated from Broadripple High School. In the mid 70''s Charlene moved to Tulsa, OK where she met her husband Ken in 1982 and they were married on June 1st, 1983 in Lexington, Kentucky. They spent two years living in the Tulsa area then a job transfer from Ken took them to Van Buren, Arkansas, where they lived till 1989. They worked together for the same trucking company. In 1989 they moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma and both went to work for Unarco Industries. After working a few months in the plant Charlene was offered a position in the Traffic Department. She spent over 20 years at Unarco and retired in 2012 due to illness. Charlene and her husband bought their home at the lake in the Long Bay/Taylor Ferry area in 1989, they have lived there since. Charlene enjoyed life and especially boating, swimming, fishing, camping, traveling and going to the casino. She was also a long time member of the Elks Lodge # 2838. Charlene is survived by her husband ken, who still lives at the resident. She is also survived by her father Charles Reed of Lakeland, FL, sisters; Melissa Richardson of Lakeland, FL and Krystal Boyle of Hamilton, OH, also her brothers Buzz Reed of Lexington, KY, Tim Reed of Carmell, IN and Mike Reed of Fortsville, IN. A remembrance service will be held in Charlene''s honor at the Wagoner Elks Lodge #2838 in the Taylor Ferry area on Hwy 51 at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, July 19th, 2014. Everyone is welcome to come after the service there will be food and drinks. Please come and celebrate Charlene''s life.
