Geneva Phipps Peavler Alexandria, Indiana Obituary

Geneva Phipps Peavler

ALEXANDRIA, IN-Geneva Phipps Peavler, 91, would like to let everyone know that her work on Earth is done. She received a call from God with an offer she couldn't refuse and a one-way relocation package. Her new assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus and includes a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in far too long. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing, and quilting until her heart's content. A place that has not yet been graced by her key-lime pie and soup beans with cornbread a plenty. (Not to mention her date nut and banana bread along with her famous Knox blocks.) A place where music, laughter and love are guaranteed. The greatest of these being love. She left detailed instructions for all of us to continue her legacy by passing her love on and to celebrate her life here on earth; a mission she successfully completed on June 26, 2017. Born August 19, 1925 in Daysboro, Kentucky to Willie and Sarah Phipps, Geneva loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a member of the Living Word Worship Center of Pendleton. She retired from RCA in 1980 and enjoyed her retirement traveling to Sebring, Florida in the winter for 18 years with her beloved husband Benny Peavler. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, Bluegrass festivals, bowling, but mostly cooking that homemade meal for anyone that would sit around her kitchen table to visit for a while. Also we cannot forget her love of the Hallmark Channel and all of the stories she enjoyed. She also had the gift of gab and the pure love that came along with that. You were always special to her no matter your circumstance or situation. She leaves behind to carry on her precious loving heart: Daughter: Jean (Ron) Burchette – Spring City, TN Sons: Bill (Patty) Grubb – Lake Placid, FL and Willard (Jackie) Grubb – Alexandria, IN Grandchildren: Nicole Rosemond (Russell) Broadhurst, Anne Grubb, Karie (Deib) Mougrabi, Cheryl (Jeremy) Lee, Tim (Amanda Ridgeway) Hood, Tammy Gates, Jessica (Scott) Parish and Zachary (Elizabeth) Grubb. 11 Great-Grandchildren Brother: Cliff Phipps of Alexandria Sister: Nettie Holland of Anderson Several nieces and nephews She also leaves three beautiful sisters-in-law that she cherished: Wanda Patrie, Gladys Phipps and Doris Phipps. And not to forget all of the friends she made in her 91 years and even the strangers she met on the street or in the grocery store aisle. Preceded in Death by: Her husband, Benjamin Peavler; her parents; sisters, Myrtle Creech and Grace Jent; Brothers, Don Phipps, Shirl Phipps and William Phipps Jr; Grandson, Louis Grubb and Great-Grandson, Gavin Lee. Her love will live on in all of us because we can never forget the wonderful woman of God that blessed each and every one of us in her special way. Services honoring Geneva's legacy and faith will take place at 2 pm on Thursday, June 29, 2017 in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street, Alexandria. Pastors Danny Tompkins, Roger Losch and Jerry Young will officiate at the services. Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Alexandria. Friends and family are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday after 11 am prior to the services. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Living Word Worship Center through the funeral home. Funeral Home: Owens Funeral Home 412 North Harrison Street Alexandria, IN US 46001

Geneva was such a precious servant of God. I was telling my sister about her and I said ,"she was the kind of person that when she left you you felt like she really loved you"! Looking forward to meeting her again in Heaven! Thank you Jesus.
