James Chappell, Jr. was born on October 11, 1938 to the late James Chappell, Sr. and the late Willie Lee Chappell in Columbus, Georgia. He departed hhis life on September 8, 2008 while in East Orange General Hospital at 5:00 a.m. James attended the 5th Avenue Elementary School. In 1952, he and his family moved to Savannah, Georgia. He started working at a very young age and worked for the Coca Cola Co. In the sixties James moved to Brooklyn, New York where his first son, James Charles Chappell was born. He then moved to Newark, New Jersey where his second son, James Christopher Chappell was born. James attended the St. Mark Fellowship Church in Newark, NJ. He was employed at the United Box Co., in Hillside, NJ, for many years where he was considered to be a dependable, hard working employee. In early 2000, James fell sick and could no long work or attend Church on his own. His loving sister, Jimmie Lue Green, took him to her Church, The New Vision Full Gospel Baptist Church, under the leadership of Bishop Andrew Jackson. James leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, James Charles Chappell and James Christopher Chappell; two grandchildren, James and Quiana Chappell; one brother, Raymond Chappell; three sisters, Jimmie Lue Green, Mary Chappell, and Geraldine (Ronald) Carter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
