Savonne Gudger Columber (Age 90)

On Wednesday, November 1, 2023, of Rockville, MD. Born in Winston Salem, NC, Savonne was raised with her two brothers, Troy (Lillian) and Hugh (Louise), in Weaverville, NC. She moved to Washington, DC after high school and later met and married Warren. After living in Hawaii for three years, they settled in Rockville, MD and raised their four children. Savonne worked for MCPS as an administrative secretary and retired after working there for over 30 years. She was active in Francis Asbury UMC, enjoyed vacationing with friends and was an avid Washington Nationals fan. Beloved wife of the late Warren B. Columber; mother of Greg Columber (Kelly), Lisa Wert, Laura Brecher (Steve), and Kelli Banfield (James); grandmother of Jennifer Jenkins (Isaac Gautier), Emily Brecher, Taylor Columber, Charlotte Brecher, Brendon Columber, Chelsea Banfield, Yuri Brunner, Bailey Banfield, and the late Elijah Patrick Columber; great-grandmother of JJ and Jacoby Jenkins, Ayla and Amelia Gautier, and Atlas Columber. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), on Monday, December 4, from 3 to 5 PM. A Memorial Service will be held at Millian Memorial United Methodist Church, 13016 Parkland Drive, Rockville, MD, on Tuesday, December 5, at 11 AM. Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium at a later date.
