<p>In Loving Memory of Richard Anthony Simmons February 18, 1970 – Nov 10, 2023 </p><p>Richard Anthony Simmons was born on February 18th, 1970, to Lenise Simmons Plenty and Robert E. Burns, Jr (preceded in death) at Booth Memorial Hospital in Flushing Queens, NY. Richard, lovingly known as Ricky and Rick, is survived by his Mother and Stepfather Lenise and Abe Plenty; stepmother Francene Burns; wife Ashley Simmons; children Lenise, Chancel, Dashanay, and Jaishaun; grandsons Xzavier and Ethan; siblings Kyeseone (Gregory), Sean (Raqiyah), Desirae (Kenneth), Taiheisha, Courtney and Tyrone Terrance Jamel. </p><p>While Richard experienced the heartbreak of losing his daughter Alyssa Simmons, he was also preceded in death by his brother Abe Jamel Plenty; brother Bobby Burns; sister Tacheyana; grandmothers Josephine Plenty and Mary Burns. </p><p>Ricky spent his childhood in Jamaica, Queens and attended P.S. 95, P.S. 160, IS 8 and Newtown High School. Later in life, he obtained his HS Equivalency Diploma in Richmond, VA. </p><p>Ricky had a natural mechanical inclination and could fix just about anything. His passion for music was evident, and he delighted in being a DJ for any occasion when asked. In his earlier years, Ricky worked as a dedicated courier in New York City. Later, he decided to build a life for himself in Albany, NY. </p><p>In addition to his remarkable personal qualities, Richard Anthony Simmons made significant professional contributions throughout his life. After relocating to Albany, NY, he embarked on a vibrant career that showcased his dedication and diverse skills. </p><p>Between the years 2001 through 2009, Richard became a Behavior Health Certified Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, Resident Care Provider and Patient Support Associate. He provided valuable support to individuals in need and demonstrated his compassion and commitment to </p><p>&nbsp;this role. Ricky had a kind and caring nature and always extended a comforting hand to patients in their time of need. He especially, provided essential assistance and created a safe environment to those affected by Alzheimer’s Disease. </p><p>In December 2009, Richard took on a new venture as a Quality Inspector at Koch Food, showcasing his adaptability and willingness to explore different areas of work. He excelled in this role until January 2012, leaving a positive impact on his colleagues. </p><p>Richard's determination and thirst for growth led him to achieve his CDL in 2016. He utilized his new skill by working for Stevens Transport in 2016 and later joined LTI Trucking from March 2017 to December 2021. Richard's reliability and professionalism contributed to the success of these companies. </p><p>While working from 2012 to 2016, Richard had the privilege of being hired by Audrey Boyd, who introduced him to her son, Emmanuel. Richard considered Emmanuel as a son, and they shared a special bond. Their relationship was a testament to the love and connection Richard had with those he cared about. His memory will forever be cherished by Emmanuel and all who had the pleasure of knowing Richard. </p><p>Ultimately, Richard realized his dreams by starting his own company, Simmons Transit LLC, in August 2021. As an owner-operator, he took charge of his destiny, combining his passion for driving with entrepreneurship. Throughout his career, he exemplified dedication, adaptability, and an unwavering pursuit of his goals. His professional contributions were valued and appreciated by colleagues and clients alike. We celebrate Richard's many achievements in both his personal and professional life, knowing that his legacy will continue to inspire future generations. </p><p>In 2015, fate brought Richard Anthony Simmons and Ashley Simmons together, leading them on a journey of love, companionship, and mutual support. Richard was captivated by Ashley's kindness, and caring nature—qualities that instantly drew them closer. Their love deepened over the years, and on September 24, 2020, Richard and Ashley took the sacred vows of marriage, sealing their commitment to a lifetime of shared happiness and love. Richard and Ashley's relationship was built on a strong foundation of trust, respect, and unwavering support for each other. Together, they embarked on adventures, celebrated milestones, and faced life's challenges hand in hand. Their union was a testament to the power of love and partnership. </p><p>Ashley was Richard’s rock, offering him solace and support during his professional endeavors, and providing a loving home environment where their love thrived. Their union was a source of joy and strength for both, and their love story will forever be an inspiration to those fortunate enough to have witnessed it. As we honor Richard's memory, we also acknowledge and celebrate the profound love he shared with Ashley. He had a deep passion for music and spent many hours honing his skills as a DJ, delighting others with his curated playlists and infectious energy on the dance floor. Music was an integral part of his life, and he embraced any opportunity to share his talent and love for the art form. Richard was also an avid enthusiast of virtual reality technology, immersing himself in captivating virtual worlds and exploring the endless possibilities it offered.&nbsp; </p><p>His fascination with new gadgets and technology extended beyond virtual reality, as he enjoyed staying up to date with the latest innovations that enhanced his life and brought him joy. Another thing that brought Richard joy was riding his motorcycle. The wind blowing and the wide roads gave him peace of mind and an adrenaline rush like no other. </p><p>Beyond his hobbies and interests.&nbsp; </p><p>Richard's love for his children and siblings was immeasurable. As a father, he cherished his children, Lenise, Chancel, Dashanay, and Jaishaun, and his </p><p>grandchildren. His “tough love” was a tool that he used to support and guide them through life’s struggles. His relationship with his children was filled with love, laughter, and treasured memories that will forever hold a special place in their hearts. </p><p>Richard was also deeply connected to his siblings, Kyeseone, Sean and Desirae. They shared a bond that went beyond blood ties, supporting and loving one another through the challenges and triumphs of life. Additionally, Richard found solace and comfort in the loving relationship he had with his siblings, Taiheisha, Courtney and Tyrone Terrance Jamel. Richard's ability to foster deep and meaningful connections with his family was a testament to his kind heart and nurturing spirit. He valued the importance of these relationships and cherished the time spent together, creating lasting memories that will be eternally treasured. </p><p>Richard's legacy will live on through his beloved children, his grandchildren, his parents, his wife, his siblings and brothers and sisters-in-law as well as a host of other loved ones including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. </p><p>Richard Anthony Simmons touched the lives of many with his warm heart, handy skills, and passion for music.
