James E. Schlegel

<p>HALIFAX - James E. Schlegel, age 85, of Halifax, died November 18, 2023, at UPMC Osteopathic. </p><p><br></p><p>He was born on March 24, 1938 in Millersburg, PA the son of the late Earl and Irene (Gaskill) Schlegel. </p><p><br></p><p>James was married to Lynnette (Sweigard) Schlegel for 62 years. </p><p><br></p><p>He was a 1957 graduate of Millersburg High School. He retired as a machine operator with over 30 years of service from American Can Company, Lemoyne.</p><p><br></p><p>James enlisted in the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict, and was stationed in Germany, and after that served in the PA National Guard.</p><p><br></p><p>He enjoyed going to car shows and showing his 1954 Oldsmobile. He also enjoyed going camping in his RV, and saw all the states and Puerto Rico.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his wife Lynnette he is survived by his son Rodney Schlegel and his wife Holly of Halifax, daughter Tina Murphy and her husband John of Virginia, grandchildren Ryan Schlegel, Gillian and Russell Murphy, and one great granddaughter Alexa, and several nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>He was preceded in death by his sister Jane Halke. </p><p><br></p><p>Private graveside services will be held at Long's Cemetery, Halifax.</p><p><br></p><p>The family requests that memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.</p><p><br></p><p>Arrangements are being cared for by the staff of Minnich Funeral.
