Gerald F. Marshall

Gerald F Marshall, Sr., passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 3, 2018. Gerald was born and raised in Evanston, Wyoming. He attended Evanston High where he was active in sports and music. He was president of the high school band and a member of the first Evanston football team to win the state championship. He later moved to Ogden, Utah, to attend Weber State College. There he met Sonya Simpson, his best friend and loving wife of 61 years. He enjoyed music, sports, traveling, family and work. He worked for many years as a private contractor and later worked for the Ogden Housing Authority. He especially enjoyed fishing and watching football with family and friends. Gerald is survived by five of their six children, Cherie Rhodes (Mike Hensley), Rena OConnell (Bob), Michelle Cinquino (Al), Lorna Williamson (Mike), Monae Marshall (Garrett Chandler); seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sonya, and their son, Jerry Marshall. Services will be held at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th, Ogden, on Monday, January 8th at 2:00 P.M. Family will greet friends from 1:00 1:45 pm. Interment at Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, Ogden, Utah, and a return to Leavitts for a final reception in the Waterfall Room. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
