Obituary
Everyone had a place at Steves table. Born October 13, 1939 (a 1st birthday gift for his sister Linda), Steve grew up in Lynwood, California, where he met his soon-to-be wife, CarolAnn. They were married on January 21, 1961. Nine months later, his first-born daughter, Rhonda Jean Merryweather (Mike Davis), was born, kicking off his 61-year career of being the most amazing, if not frustrated, Girl Dad. Later, daughters: Kelly Ann Stackaruk (Tom), Jenny Rebecca Walker (Kerry), and Stephanie Lynn Craghead (John) joined the family. With each daughter delivered, Steves hope of having a son named Ace vanished. But this didnt stop him from sharing his passion for the outdoors, motorcycles, guns, and music with his girls. Steve and CarolAnn moved their young family to Brigham City, Utah in the early 1970s. There, Steve was co-owner of J & S Cycle with his brother-in-law James Boyd. Steve LOVED his grandchildren; they each had a special bond with him. For over 20 years, they looked forward to summer Lake Powell trips with grandpa and Speed Week at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Among many hobbies, Steve enjoyed cheering on the Weber State Wildcats, playing his many guitars, riding his Harley, annual rides to Sturgis, working on his 1923 T-Bucket which he displayed in car shows, deep sea fishing with his buddy Joe Ruzzamenti, Road Tramp Reunions, and golfing with friends and family. He had a passion for all types of music and always had a song, movie or music video to share. Steve was a plant manager at Autoliv, ASP. He served in many community volunteer capacities: Board of Directors for the Ogden Weber Applied Technical College, Red Cross of Northern Utah, President of the WSU Wildcat Club, Ogden-Weber Chamber of Commerce - "Gandy Dancer", and many more. Steve is survived by his wife and daughters, 16 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandkids (with one on the way), siblings Linda Boyd and Jerry Smith, Aunt Sue Dee Miller and Uncle Darrell Smith as well as many nieces and nephews who dearly loved their Uncle Steve. Please join us in celebrating Steves amazing life. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 17 at 11:00 a.m. - Leavitts Mortuary 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah 84403.
