Hazel Lee Reynolds Corley Pineville, Louisiana Obituary

Hazel Lee Reynolds Corley

A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking and loving hands put to rest; God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best. Hazel Lee Reynolds Corley (86), finished her mission on earth to be with her Lord & Savior on October 26th, 2014. Funeral services celebrating the life of Hazel Lee Reynolds Corley will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 31, 2014 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville with Dr. Clark Palmer and Reverend Oliver Dean officiating. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery, Ball with Reverend Lou Gordon officiating. Pallbearers honored to serve will be Doug Corley, Dave Corley, Robbie Corley, Chris Corley, Leo Deslatte, Joel Veazey, Brian Corley and Jason Corley. Honorary pallbearer will be Austin Corley. The family request that visitation be observed at Hixson Brothers, Pineville Thursday, October 30, 2014 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. and continued Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Hazel was a loving, devoted wife for 56 years to Chester Pomp Corley, who preceded her in 2003. Also, preceding her were her parents, Dave & Ann Gray Reynolds, Sisters; Amy Kilmer, Damie Sullivan, Jackie Beene, Vettie Knudsen & Hesta Lee Deslatte, Brothers; Alton Reynolds, Monroe Reynolds & Hersel Reynolds. Hazel was the absolute best Mom ever to her children, all of whom will miss her terribly. Her children are: Harold Doc Corley (wife, Barbara) of Tioga, Glenn Corley (wife, Marjorie) of Broaddus, Texas, Janelle Corley Coody (husband, Karl) of Esler Field, Kathy Corley Thompson (husband, Johnny) of Houston, Texas, and Troy Corley of Tioga. She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren: Doug Corley (wife, Michele) of Tioga, David Corley (wife, Michelle) of Tioga, Chris Corley (wife, Tracy) of Claremont, New Hampshire, and Robbie Corley of Tioga. The Lord also blessed Hazel with great grandchildren: Brian Corley, Hannah Corley, Faith Corley, Jason Corley, Austin Corley, Autumn Jones (Corley), all of Tioga, and Morgan Corley of Murphysboro, Tennessee. She is also survived by two very special Sister-In-Laws: Betty Corley Longino, of Tioga, and Joyce Corley Jackson, of Florida. Betty not only grew up with Hazel but also introduced Hazel to her brother, Chester Corley. Chester and Hazel fell madly in love and were married, thus, beginning the 56 years of happy marriage. Hazel was also known as Mom Hazel, Aunt Hazel, Mama Hazel, and The Queen of Dillard Road, to many generations of family and friends that passed through her home and stayed in her heart. Of the many generations of nephews and nieces that became close to Hazel, one very special nephew, Leo Deslatte and his wife Dianne and their sons Cliff and Wes, was among her many favorites. Leo spent many hours with and enjoyed many pots of Community Coffee with Aunt Hazel over the years sitting and talking about life, family genealogy, and one of Moms favorite topics; food. She also had a very special niece, Joy Caldwell, who over the last couple years had a standing Friday morning visit. Hazel and Joy shared a lot in common since both of their husbands had outstanding military careers. There were also many weekly cards and calls from Dessie, Dovie, Hazel Tidwell, Shirley & Eddie, and many others. She loved hearing from all of them. Mom Hazel also had 2 very special people that became so close over the decades that they became part of our family like another son and daughter. The adopted son, Joel Veazey and his wife Debra, from Pecan Island, always shared recipes, fresh seafood, wild game and garden grown veggies. They had an incredible bond of love with Mom Hazel and raised their children and grandchildren to do the same. The adopted daughter, Artie Cebrynski Sutton and her husband Larry were at many of our family holiday events and were always ready to step in and help where needed as well as helping when Mom Hazel would be in the hospital. During Hazels early married life, she followed her traveling soldier husband, Chester, from one duty station to the next. She took 4 small children by herself to Germany to be with Chester. No matter where we were stationed, Mom Hazel always found a church to get active in. After Chester retired and settled in Tioga, Mom became very dedicated to Faith Baptist Church, where she was still a member up until her passing. She very proudly called it her church. After her children finished school, she decided to go to beauty school. We were all so proud when she earned her license and set up a beauty shop at home. She spent many years fixing hair and visiting with her clientele before cardiac issues and open heart surgery forced her to close the beauty shop. However, closing up the beauty shop did not slow her down. Mom Hazel took up salt water fishing, when she could, with her Daughter Kathy and her husband, Johnny. She proudly showed off many pictures of her prize Redfish catches to all that visited. She also enjoyed growing tomatoes and flowers on and around the deck at home. Mom Hazel always enjoyed cooking and feeding her family and anyone else that was around when it came time to eat. Thanksgiving dinner as well as numerous other occasions almost always numbered more than 40. No one ever left her home hungry and she was always eager to share recipes or cooking tips when asked. Coffee was enjoyed as often as possible with her buddies, Corky Sandidge and Doris Browning, Rose & Jr Simpson, and Lou Gills. The family would like to give a very special Thank You to Moms Physicians, Dr. Ronald Hayes and Dr. Wesley Davis for their dedication, kindness and compassion over the years. Also, a special Thank You goes out to Nancy Gremillion, who was as much family to Mom as being Dr. Davis N.A. Also, a big Thanks to all the Aids, Therapists and Nurses from Thompson Home Health over the years and to All Saints Hospice for the expert care and compassion they provided.
