Meg Louise Seney Britton was born on December 11, 1966 and died on November 10, 2023. She was 56 years old. She spent the early years of her life in Ohio and Connecticut. She was a graduate of Avon High School and Bucknell College. Meg had a beautiful soul and looked forward to opportunities to travel and experience the world around her. She had a bright, beautiful, contagious smile and was passionate, compassionate, open, honest, and deeply supportive. She showed up for the people she loved and things she cared about.
Meg had several jobs during her relatively short and beautiful life and she brought her dedication and incredible work ethic to each of those opportunities. Meg truly had a unique way about her and gracefully handled all the situations that came her way by way of her creativity, camaraderie and sense of humor. Meg and her husband Keith Clark, of Montague, Massachusetts, met at WGBY-TV in Springfield. They had just celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary together in September.
In the spring of 2023, just as she and her husband had both lost their jobs, she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic ALK+ lung cancer, despite the fact that Meg was a lifelong nonsmoker and avid hiker.
Meg being Meg, took the disease head on, right up until the end. She fought valiantly with the most wonderful support from the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s hospital. Throughout this difficult journey, she did not waste a moment and she made sure her friends and family were in the best place possible; that they knew she loved them and that she would be with them (us) for the rest of our lives.
Even amidst the unexpected unemployment, the cancer diagnosis, the treatment processes and the daily challenges she was facing, she stayed focused on living. The summer of 2023 was one for the record books as she rallied and “rocked on” with her son and best friends attending concerts including Buddy Guy, Bruce Springsteen, local favorite Johnny Six Gun and more.
Meg leaves behind her husband Keith, her son and rock-n-roll partner Nick, her parents Karen and Skip Britton, her brother Josh Seney, her step-sister Julie Payne Britton, step-brother Tom Britton, half siblings Todd, Matthew, John (Jack) and Allison Seney and many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
The Clark family wants to acknowledge and express our deepest gratitude to Julie Payne Britton, Gretchen Dobosz, Lynn Candels and Josh Seney for their tireless care, support, dedication, commitment and most importantly, love, as they were by Meg’s side from the beginning of this journey right up till her passing.
A celebration of Meg's life will take place in the spring of 2024 as the temperature warms-up and the days get longer. It will be then that our love for Meg can truly be expressed. Glasses will be raised, music will be played, stories will circulate, and smiles will be abundant, as they should be. This is how she would want us to remember her. Thank you Meg, you were a gift to many and we are all the better because of you!
