Helen Mandzak Obituary

Helen Mandzak, 95, of Beaver Meadows, fell asleep with the Lord on Thursday morning at Heritage Hill Senior Community, Weatherly.


Born in Beaver Meadows, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Baran) Dutzer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Vincent C. Mandzak, Sr.; and her son Vincent C. Mandzak, Jr. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.


She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Beaver Meadows. She was a proud and devoted member of that parish her entire life.


She was a graduate of the Bellevue School of Nursing, New York City, and she was also member of the alumni association. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a registered nurse.


Surviving are her daughter Melanie Bove, of Mifflinville, and her son Bruce Mandzak, of Beaver Meadows; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held on Monday. The Office of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Beaver Meadows. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. A public visitation will be held from 9-10:00 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Pusti Funeral Home, Inc., 480 West Broad Street, Hazleton.
