William Andrews Gates

William Andrews Gates, 72, Of Kennett Square, PA, passed away on Dec 13, 2010. A graduate of Kennett High School & Goldey Beacom College, he worked for Moore Business Forms and Delta Forms before operating his own business for 15 yrs in Media & Kennett Square, PA. He served in the US Marine Corps for 4 yrs.; was a life member of the Free and Accepted Masons Kennett Lodge # 475, and the past Master Mason in 1970, as well as past 3rd vice president of the Kennett Loins Club. In his younger school years he was an accomplished athlete in basketball & baseball. Then became an avid golfer, enjoyed sailing, the water and beach life. Bill was predeceased by his wife of 49 yrs. Patricia Gayle Gates in (2009) and his mother Myrle Lucille Gates, North Umberland, PA. He is survived by his father, Bernard A. Gates of North Umberland, PA, sister, Suzanne and husband, James Hornberger of Wastontown, PA; daughter, Robin and husband, Stephen Tait of Middletown, DE; daughter, Jennifer and husband, Stephen Lustgarten of Raleigh, NC and his joy in life his six grandchildren, Lindsay, Shelley, Duncan, Nicole, Jacquelyn & Avery. A memorial service will be held in honor of Bill’s life at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Edward L. Collins, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 86 Pine St., Oxford, PA, where friends may call from 1-2 p.m. Interment will be private.
