Laurence W. Boddy, Sr.

Laurence W. Boddy, Sr., 84, of Oxford passed on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at the Ware Presbyterian Village, Oxford. He was the husband of the late Virginia L. Stafford Boddy who died in 2001. Born in Bakers Station, he was the son of the late Charles Wayman and Rachel Idella LaRue Boddy. Laurence lived in Oxford most of his life. He formerly resided in Avondale. He was employed with Lukens Steel Co. Coatesville as the safety coordinator. He retired in 1983 after 40 years of service. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member and deacon of the Second Presbyterian Church of Oxford. He is survived by four sons, Kerry A. Boddy and his wife, Linda of West Grove, Lawrence W. Boddy, Jr. husband of the late Brenda Boddy, Allen R. Boddy and his wife, Karen, and Jeffrey W. Boddy all of Oxford; one daughter, Shirley A. Saunders of Wilmington, DE; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Allen C. Boddy, Arthur N. Boddy, Oscar R. Boddy, Joseph W. Boddy, David W. Boddy; and two sisters, Edna Christie and Genevieve Wilson. Home Going services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Second Presbyterian Church, 42 S. Fifth St. Oxford, where friends and family called from 9 to 10 a.m. Interment was in the Oxford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Second Presbyterian Church, 42 S. Fifth St. Oxford, PA 19363.
