Evelyn Margret LaPorte made her peaceful journey home to the Lord Monday, February 19, 2018 in St. Camillus Health Center, Whitinsville. Evelyn will be fondly remembered as a simple and humble person at the fine age of 106. Ms. LaPorte was born May 16, 1911 in Webster, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Henry and Annie (Wakefield) LaPorte. From 1929-1994 she lived in Phoenix and Oregon, until residing in Uxbridge in 1994. Never married, she is survived by several cousins. Evelyn enjoyed music of all kinds, especially hymns, and played the organ. She enjoyed watching birds, absorbing the sunshine on a warm day and was thankful for the earth around her. Evelyn was most comfortable in a warm sweater, faithfully reading or listening to someone read from her most precious possession, her Bible. The family would like to thank all of the staff at St. Camillus for their warmth, love and support provided to Evelyn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Camillus Health Center, Activities Fund, 447 Hill Street, Whitinsville, MA 01588. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
