He was a very hard work, who worked to make a better life for his family.<br />He is preceded in death by his parents; bother, Joe Wesley Carter; and two sisters, Peggy Sue Johnson and Elsie Mae Cuevas. <br />He is survived by his son, Willie E. Carter, Jr.; daughter, Megen Barnes (Lester); brother, James Ray Carter; two sisters LaWanda Dennis and Mildred Broomhall; and four grandchildren, Johnny Flemmons, Matthew Barnes, Mary Elizabeth Carter, and Leslie Mae Barnes. <br />A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Columbus, MS.<br />Mortimer Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.<br />March 24, 1956 - February 19, 201803/24/195602/19/2018
