Carl W. Gable, age 92, of Pemberville, OH passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born on May 14, 1925 in Toledo, OH to Carl Louis and Esther Marie (Hauser) Gable. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army having served during WWII. During his time in Korea he was chief cook for LT. General Hodge. Following his return from active duty, Carl married Shirley L. Cook in Toledo, OH. They would raise 4 children and celebrate over 70 years of marriage together. Carl was a foreman with C&O Railroad which later became CSX for over 30 years before his retirement. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Luckey and among his favorite past times he enjoyed bowling with his sons and was credited with bowling a perfect score of 300 at the age of 72. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, playing cards, and flying kites. However, his greatest joy was his family, especially playing with his grand kids. In addition to his wife Shirley, Carl is survived by his children and their spouses: Ronald (Leah) Gable of FL, Sandra (Timothy) Hunyor of Portage, Beverly (Larry) Crone of Gibsonburg, Ernest (Patty) Gable Sr. of Millbury, Siblings: Esther Parker of MI, Marilyn (Dale) Wagenknecht of MI, Robert Gable of Alvordton, Carol Jean (Cliff) Van Arsdalen of Alvordton, grandchildren: Heather Gable, Sonya Howlett, Eric (Angelica) Gable, Stacey L. (Joseph) Dennis, John A. (Toni) Hunyor, David Crone, Amber Showman, Ernest W. Gable Jr., Kristin Gable, Gregory Gable, Sara (Dirk) Howard, 26 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson: Jeffrey M. Hunyor, sisters: Renelles Robinson, Bernice Nietz and brother: Howard Gable. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 5-9 p.m. at the Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, OH. Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 1:30 p.m., with an additional time of visitation from 12 p.m. until time of service. Officiating will be Rev. Lyle Shiffert. Interment will be in Troy Township Cemetery, Luckey, OH. There will be a bereavement meal served at Otterbein Portage Valley Senior Lifestyle Community, 20311 Pemberville Road in Pemberville immediately following the cemetery committal service.
