Janis C. Keyser, 77, of Roscoe, IL died at 8:08 p.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital surrounded by her loving family after complications from a severe stroke. Born June 26, 1940 in Paxton, IL, the daughter of Ralph and Norma (Smith) Nafziger. She graduated from the Mennonite School of Nursing of Bloomington, IL. Janis married Richard F. Keyser in Paxton, IL on September 9, 1961 and was employed as a nurse with Beloit Memorial Hospital for one year and then at Fairbanks Morse Engine as an industrial nurse for three years. Janis was a member of Hope Evangelical Free Church and worked with the Diaconate Committee for many years. She enjoyed choir until disabilities became too much and was also a member of the American Legion Axillary and a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include husband Richard of Roscoe, IL; daughter Kristina (Paul) Sullivan of West Allis, WI; sons Jared (Amy) Keyser of Anchorage, AK, Chad (Tara) Keyser of Arden, NC and Jason Keyser of West Allis, WI; grandchildren Nathan (Fiancé Rachel Bieszk) Sullivan, Colleen (Ian) Sylvester, Mia Keyser, Ana Keyser and Aggie Keyser; great grandchildren Keagan Sullivan, Elizabeth Sylvester and Erin Sylvester; sister-in-law Ruth Nafziger; several nieces and nephews and granddogs Salty, Blue, Pokie, IceLea, Raven, Bella, Ion, Leo and Padmae and predeceased by Dakota, the grand matriarch who passed on January 5th 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Donald Nafziger. Funeral Ceremonies will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, February 24, 2018 at McCorkle Funeral Home – Rockton Chapel, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, IL with the Pastor Kevin Dick officiating. Burial will be in Pinnacle Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held in the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until time of service Saturday. A memorial has been established in memory of Janis towards research and patients of strokes.
